The famous 7 Layer Dip! My husbands absolute favourite! He never gets sick of this dip. I have to say, it is really delicious! I am known to love a chip and a dip!! Haha! I love everything about this 7 Layer Dip, especially with a couple of drinks, when the BBQ is nowhere near ready.
WARNING: Once you start, you can’t stop! When we have BBQ’s/Braais, people will ask me beforehand if I will be making the 7 Layer Dip. Always a hit at parties or BBQ’s! I’ve now resorted to making 2 for every occasion, because the kids love it too. Whatever you don’t eat as a dip, can be eaten as a salad. Almost like Nachos without the melted cheese.
It’s quite hard to find the Refried Beans in South Africa. I did a bit of research and I have found a place online where you can get it delivered if you’re planning a braai in advance. You can find the link here
If you’re watching your weight, you can make the seed crackers on my blog. Here’s the recipe. These are healthier than having the Corn chips and msg that comes with it. Although I do love the Tostitos Lime Corn Chips with this dip. It’s ok every now and then.

A healthy, must have dip for any special occasion! Wonderful for a BBQ or picnic! Can also be served as a salad! Serve with Tostitos Lime Chips or Seed Crackers! (See recipe on blog)

Love this dip too but refried beans are something I do not have in my recipe — what would the alternative ingredient for Refried beans be in SA? Would like to try it.
Dee, I found canned refried beans on a South African website where they can deliver. It really is worth having as it makes the dish. There are recipes online for refried beans if you’re keen to give it a go! It makes the dish and is a good solid base!
